this short film is pretty awesome- albeit pretty strange- made in 1988, it combines French cliches of the American west with American cliches of France. I don't know how i stumbled upon in, but I thought I'd provide one more way for others to come across it. If you like to multitask, or if you have a spare half hour, it is a satisfying way to spend that time.

Wanted to share a bit of percussion magic
these are some of the most crisp and precise and creative and rich and dimensional rhythms I've heard- Seeing him more recently performing with Hiromi Uehara in her "Trio Project" with Anthony Jackson on the Base and Hiromi on Piano- Simon Phillips was the one who really changed music for me-
drumming like you've never seen/heard it before. His strokes are so fluid and purposeful, literally extensions of his limbs.
+ you have to love the look
One of the best parts of this video (aside from the magic of Johnny Cash's voice with Emmylou Harris') is the mandolin being played by a young Marty Stuart (Grammy winning country artist) in the silver blazer from the future.
